In childcare facilities, video surveillance serves as a valuable tool for ensuring the safety and well-being of children. Cameras function as an additional layer of supervision, monitoring, and enhancing the overall safety and security of the center. Additionally, they provide parents and staff with the reassurance that all children are in appropriate areas. However, it's imperative to install CCTV systems in compliance with the law and in a manner that respects user privacy. Starting from July 2024, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) will mandate all preschools to adhere to specific requirements regarding the implementation of CCTV cameras on their premises. Outlined below is a brief summary of the stipulated requirements:
1. CCTV cameras must be installed in areas utilized by children, including entrance/exit points to preschool premises, walkways, corridors (used by children), teaching and learning areas, common dining areas, indoor/outdoor play areas, and infants’ napping rooms. 2. Cameras are prohibited from being installed in changing rooms, toilets, and staff resting areas. 3. Systems are required to maintain a record of at least 30 days of footage with a date and timestamp displayed on every camera. 4. Recordings must have a minimum resolution of 1080P. 5. The CCTV system must be regularly maintained and kept in good working condition. If you are uncertain whether your center meets these requirements, our team is here to assist you.
